Tobogganing with children – with high-speed & laughter towards the valley
When the first snow falls from the sky in South Tyrol, everyone looks forward to go tobogganing! Ready? Go! No matter whether on the small, flat practice slopes in front of the Familienhotels Südtirol or on the super long toboggan runs that lead through snow-covered landscapes and silent magic forests, by day or by night – tobogganing with children is always a very special pleasure. Stomping through the snow together and being pulled on the sledge by mum or dad in between is almost as much fun for the little ones as the well-deserved break at one of the countless rustic huts. After a little refreshment, the real highlight comes: the sleigh ride, which makes for red cheeks, bright children’s eyes, and lots of happy laughter.
A winter holiday with children: Tobogganing tips
Tobogganing is very easy, but there are some rules you should follow during your winter holiday with children. The right equipment is essential for safe tobogganing fun. In addition to a sledge with a steering belt, sturdy shoes with non-slip soles, waterproof clothing and gloves as well as a helmet and ski goggles are required. For night tobogganing you will also need a headlamp and light strips. When tobogganing with children, a good sitting position is essential. Small children sit in front of you, otherwise the rule for two-person sledges apply: The smaller, lighter person sits in the back, the taller person in front. During the ride, the strap is held firmly in place. The legs are stretched out and pressed firmly against the runners. To steer, the respective inner foot is pressed into the snow. Both feet are used for braking. By the way: The FIS safety guidelines apply on all toboggan runs.

Ice skating with children in South Tyrol
When the temperatures in South Tyrol begin to drop far below zero, it’s not only ice princesses who rejoice. With every degree below zero, the picturesque lakes and dreamy ponds throughout the country transform into magnificent natural ice-skating rinks against a fantastic natural backdrop. Covered with a thick coat of ice, the stagnant waters offer the perfect stage for all those who like to be led onto thick ice. Here you can do your laps under the blue sky, perform artistic pirouettes on the smooth ice, or play tag with each other. You want to prove your accuracy in between? How about a game of curling? Fun, games, and excitement on the ice are guaranteed – even when the thaw sets in, because after all there are numerous ice rinks in South Tyrol.
One thing is certain: A family holiday in South Tyrol is absolutely cool. Jump right into the frozen fun and book your stay on the south-side of the Alps!
