Petting zoo: In South Tyrol it’s time to cuddle up

Soft and cuddly: furry encounters

Rossy Park – that’s the name of the petting zoo on Monte Cavallo/Rosskopf near our family hotels in Val Venosta/Eisacktal. Here you will find hares, donkeys, ponies, dwarf sheep and dwarf goats, as well as llamas and alpacas that will be happy to accompany you on your hikes.

Would you like to spend a day on the farm? Then the Reierhof Adventure Farm in Val Casies/Gsiesertal is your address. Besides the classic farm animals, fallow deer, ibex, yaks, zebus, buffalo, llamas, and alpacas also live here. Get excited!

In the Col de Flam Petting Zoo near St. Ulrich in Val Gardena/Gröden you will jump for joy on the four fantastic trampolines. Look forward to an exciting high ropes course, a zipline, and lots of animals to pet.

With the right destination in mind, it’s a real pleasure to go hiking with children in South Tyrol – especially when there are lots of animals waiting to greet you at the end of the trail. At the Marinzen Alm in the Sciliar/Schlern area a petting zoo and a fishing pond await you as a reward.

The ancient mountain farm in the hamlet of Gfrill near Tisens – near our family hotels in Meran & Environs – is home to old breeds of domestic animals, such as woolly pigs and racka sheep. But also ponies, dwarf goats and sheep, peacocks, horses, donkeys, fallow deer, emus, and other animals live here.

Get up close and personal with animals on the Taser Alm above Scena/Schenna. The mountain zoo is home to dwarf goats, llamas, alpacas, donkeys, guinea pigs, ponies, and hares. There are also pigs in the barn. With a little luck you can even help with feeding.

Want to snuggle up a bit? Then head straight to Meran 2000. In the petting zoo of the Outdoor Kids Camp your little ones can pet ponies, dwarf goats, and rabbits. But be careful: Children are difficult to get away from their four-legged friends.

Juval Castle at the entrance to the Val Senales/Schnalstal is not only home to mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner, but also to countless animals. In addition to the Messner Mountain Museum dedicated to the Magic of the Mountain, you will also get the chance to visit a small mountain zoo here.
