South Tyrol is in bloom!
The highlight: the apple blossoms
The apple blossoms in South Tyrol’s south and in the Dolomites are a truly special sight.
At this time of year, the days are growing wonderfully long, the birds are merrily chirping, the bees are buzzing industriously from flower to flower, and everything feels that bit brighter. What puts the perfect finishing touch to the spring vibes are the apple blossoms, an unbelievable natural spectacle that is currently enchanting our region. The beloved South Tyrolean fruit tree blooms between mid-March and the beginning of May, showing off its beautiful, pinkish-white blossoms. Would you like to see (and smell) this sea of blossoms up close? Take a long walk through the apple trees at an elevation of between 200 and 1,000 metres above sea level, for example in Kaltern – and in many other places, too! – during your mountain biking holidays in the Alps in spring. And by the way, some 950,000 tonnes of apples are harvested every year in South Tyrol, and every second apple in Italy comes from our region – isn’t that amazing?
