A (mini) adventure for the whole family

Full steam ahead for fun!

A trip across South Tyrol in just a few moments – it’s possible at the Train World in Rabland.

All aboard! In a matter of minutes, you can pass from Meran to Bolzano and then zip to Sterzing. Sounds impossible, right? Think again! This isn’t science fiction; it’s the cool reality at the Train World museum in Rabland, Italy’s largest digital model railway. With a whopping 20,000 model trains, the miniature landscapes, built to a 1:87 scale, are packed with interactive elements.
Spread across 1,000m², you’ll find 70 trains, 800 metres of track, 400 vehicles, and 12,000 figures.
On the first floor, 300m² are dedicated to an incredibly detailed miniature version of South Tyrol. Take a colourful journey from Brenner to Mals, “stroll” through Bolzano’s old town centre, complete with cafés, pedestrians, and horses. Venture outside the city and discover replicas of castles, palaces, and even a car crash! You can also relive the experience of riding the Rittnerbahn railway and enjoy an open-air concert – all in miniature! At regular intervals, night falls on the miniature world, with countless lights and special effects creating a magical atmosphere. At 62 metres long, this miniature South Tyrol is the world’s largest panoramic display of our region.
There’s also a fantasy “Mittelgebirge” terrain on four levels. Instead of recreating an existing setting, the model railway enthusiasts let their imaginations run wild, creating a whimsical world filled with towering mountains, winding rivers, and hidden valleys. This fantastical landscape is a testament to the creativity and passion of the model railway builders.
Our youngest guests will delight in the dedicated children’s play area. Here, they can enjoy the thrill of driving their own train and exploring a miniature railway world.
And you can even buy some of the models and trains to take home, such as the unique Val Venosta/Vinschgau railway model.
