Lace up your hiking shoes and hit the trails!

What makes Val Pusteria/Pustertal so special? It’s the incredibly beautiful hikes that are perfect for families.

Val Pusteria/Pustertal is a great outdoor destination for families – even the little ones in buggies can enjoy the amazing excursions. And they offer a truly unique backdrop, especially in autumn. October’s soft light, pleasant temperatures, and the stunning colours create an unforgettable experience. Here we’ll share with you 4 leisurely, yet impressive, autumn hikes in Val Pusteria/Pustertal.

  1. Through Val Fiscalina/Fischleintal
Located near Sesto/Sexten, this tour starts at the Fischleinboden car park (parking for a fee). This leisurely, mostly flat hike covers 6km through a breathtaking mountain landscape and ends at a cosy hut at the head of the valley.
  2. The nature trail at Lake Anterselva/Antholzer See
This hiking trail is also suitable for pushchairs. The 3.8km trail winds around Lake Anterselva/Antholzer See, providing plenty of opportunities to pause and learn about the local environment through various informative boards. There are also several places to stop for refreshments at the upper end of the lake.
  3. Over the Alpe di Rodengo-Luson/Rodenecker-Lüsner Alm
This easy-going forest track starts from the Zumis car park near Rodeneck and winds its way across the gentle Alpe di Rodengo-Luson/Rodenecker-Lüsner Alm in the Rio Pusteria/Gitschberg Jochtal ski and hiking area, which during this season turns into a golden tapestry of autumnal colours. Along the way, you’ll catch breathtaking views of the Zillertal Alps, Mt Grossglockner, as well as the Ötztal and Stubai Alps. After a short distance, you’ll arrive at the Roner hut. Continuing on, you’ll come to a fork in the path that leads to either the Rastner hut or the Starkenfeld hut. These huts are approximately 11 kilometres away.
  4. Through the unspoilt Knuttental valley
Nestled in the Valli di Tures e Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal, the quaint and unpoiled Knuttental valley awaits. Flanked by mountain pines and Alpine meadows, the forest road leads approximately 1.5 kilometres from the car park to the Knuttenalm hut. If you’re still feeling adventurous, you can continue on to Lake Klammlsee, which takes about 1h 45m.
