On snowshoes to the Stoanamandl
Pure winter magic!
Winter dreams come true while snowshoe hiking through the South Tyrolean winter landscapes. Rewarding: the hike to Stoanamandl near Spinges.
The Stoanamandl near Spinges is a mountain hill at 2,117 metres above sea level. It offers a fantastic view of the Pfunders mountains and is therefore also a popular destination for snowshoe hikes in winter. Starting point is the Wetterkreuz parking lot near Spinges.
Walk along trail no. 9 until you reach the Altes Karl junction, from where a path leads you uphill. You will come across picturesque mountain huts and three summer villas of Austrian painter Franz von Defregger, who was a good friend of Andreas Hofer. Follow the Stoanamandl sign no. 1, which guides you safely along the ridge to Stoanamandl, where you will be rewarded with a unique panoramic view of the southern Zillertal Alps. For this medium-difficulty snowshoe hike, which involves a difference in altitude of about 850 metres, you should allocate about 5 hours to be able to enjoy the breathtaking panorama that extends to the Zuckerhütl! Cosy mountain huts with tasty refreshments crown your winter hike in South Tyrol.
