September has an air of magic, an enchanting peace before winter sets in. Let us tell you what experiences you can look forward to.

They say that the early bird catches the worm – and spectacular sunrises, too. In September, the views of the mountains are wonderfully clear and the morning landscapes are often shrouded in mystical veils of mist that only disperse with the first rays of sunshine. The sun now rises at around 7 a.m., creating the perfect conditions for a sunrise hike with your kids. Around our accommodation near the Dolomites, there are some wonderful places where you can watch the sun rise while sipping yummy hot chocolate and munching on biscuits. If you’re lucky, you might even enjoy some unique encounters with majestic deer and stags at this time of year. September is the rutting season of these graceful animals, and their powerful bellowing can often be heard ringing through the forests. For the best chance of seeing them, you need to know the best places and times. We recommend asking the foresters or gamekeepers if you want to combine your sunrise hike with this magical experience.
