Hike to Monte San Vigilio/Vigiljoch

Perfect panoramic views, clear autumn air, and a colourful sea of leaves: a hike to Monte San Vigilio/Vigiljoch is a special highlight in autumn.

Before the cold season sets in and it’s time for a Christmas holiday at one of the best family hotels in Italy, we’d like to give you our autumn hiking tip for around Schenna. How about a hike high up on Monte San Vigilio/Vigiljoch, for example? Here, you can walk past larches, bushes, and hedges and enjoy the fresh autumn air. The best way to start your hike is to take the cable car from Lana to Monte San Vigilio/Vigiljoch. Then take hiking trail number 34 to reach the little church of St. Vigilius, which was built as early as the 11th century. Enjoy the panoramic view over Valle dell’Adige/Etschtal to the Dolomites and have a picnic on the spacious meadows. Continue on trail number 9 to the “Schwarze Lacke” mountain lake and return via the somewhat narrower trail number 7, which takes you to the top station of the cable car. Afterwards, you can relax in our spacious bathing area with panorama pool, outdoor whirlpool, and much more.
